The Rolls Royce of juicers by Philips of course!

I had a juicer a few years ago – it was about £50 and made nice enough juice.  The major stunbling block with it was how much of a pain it was to clean.  Bits of pulp got stuck in difficult to reach places and the rotator was a nightmare to clean.  It ended up being relegated to the back of the cupboard and eventually to a car boot sale.

Thankfully – times and technology have moved on.  This juicer from Philips – the Philips Avance HR1871 Whole Fruit Juicer with XXL Tube is nothing short of perfect.  It gets 9.5 out of ten from me – only losing a tiny half  point because it doesn’t have a citrus press (although you can feed WHOLE peeled oranges into the feeder) so  you don’t get a nice pulpy orange juice, only what comes through the filter.

That’s it though!  It makes great juice, powerfully, quickly and most importantly – cleanly.  This one won’t be going to to the back of the cupboard – it will be a permanent feature on my worktops.  The plastic casings where the fruit/veg goes into are literally rinsable and the rotator – usually a good 10 minute cleaning job is done in a minute.  In total rinsing and cleaning out the pulp took less than 3 minutes.  Super impressed!

Now obviously you get what you pay for – this juicer is coming in just over £200 but think about it – if you are serious about juicing and the health benefits – it really is worth the extra cost.  Take it from me – I bought and used a cheap one and it just didn’t do the job well enough and made it a pain to use.  You begain to find excuses not to use it.  My excuse was to buy a smoothie maker instead – much easier to clean.

2 carrots

1 apple

1 beetroot.
