Viña Maipo Classic Series Chardonnay, Chile, 13.0% abv
A smooth, full of flavour white wine with white peach and tropical fruit tones, semi-dry. Goes well with cheese and white meat dishes. Available from Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s – RRP £9.99
Marques de la Concordia MM Seleccion Especial Cava Brut Rose, Spain, 11.5% abv
A blossoming bouquet bursting with red berries and strawberries. The palate is smooth and creamy. Expect a long finish. Available from Amazon – RRP £10.99
56 Hundred Pinot Grigio 2014, South Africa, 12.5% abv
Deep straw yellow in colour, this lively wine is full of juicy white peach topped with floral notes. The author is a big pintot grigio fan and recommends drinking this alone, though this wine will pair well with Asian and Italian dishes. Available from Tesco and Morrisons -RRP – £5.75
Apothic Red 2014, California, 13.5% abv.
This winemaker’s blend combines zinfandel, merlot, cabernet sauvignon and syrah into a chocolatey, plummy and vanilla glug, with an added sweetness that will appeal to those who aren’t red wine fans. The result is soft on the palate, yet dominated by peppery zinfandel notes, with the other grape varieties muted in the background. We strongly recommend drinking this delicious wine on its own. Available from all major supermarkets – RRP £8.99
Please drink responsibly at all times.
