Lindeman’s and Oxfam Collaborate on a Nationwide Wine and Book Club
The bods at Lindeman’s are pairing your favourite wine not with a suitable dish, but with stimulation for the brain. Together with Oxfam bookshops, they’ve just launched a series of events to promote reading while encouraging charitable ethics. The launch started this May in Oxfam bookshops, Marylebone, and will spread nationwide. These events give people the opportunity to donate their unread books to a good cause, and in turn help those who want to read them.
To gain entrance to an event, just turn up with a bag of said books. Oxfam will then make a donation equal to the value of your books to charity. Every month £1.6m of books are donated to Oxfam’s bookshops. It’s shocking that 70% of books on shelves remain unread (according to a Lindeman’s survey conducted in 2011 by One Poll). Sarah Marshall, Lindeman’s Brand Business Manager says, “We’re absolutely delighted to be working with Oxfam to support such a great cause and to share the Lindeman’s Wine and Book Club with more people.” From 1st April to 30th September 2012, Lindeman’s wines will have an on-pack promotion giving customers the opportunity to win one of 100 Kindles and 2500 Amazon vouchers. Lindeman’s also have an online book club.
