Desigual launch fragrance line and it’s pretty good!

In the hierarchy of fragrance you have the uber niche brands – like Artisan Perfumier/Creed, then your classic fashion design house scent – Chanel/Thierry Mugler/Dior followed by a whole raft of fragrances from high street shops, celebrities and sports brands.  It’s hard to know where to get a great perfume from the further down the chain you go.  It can indeed be true – you get what you pay for.

Desigual are a very famous brand on the continent and make really wicked, edgy clothing that although being feminine – is quite daring and eye catching.    This is their first foray into fragrance and it would seem they have made a decent job of it.  Their first tick was to actually find “noses” who had created other, famous designer house perfumes to keep the standard pretty high.  Each fragrance in the range has a different spirit – there’s Love, Fun and Sex and they advise to “Have love, fun or sex every day”  I love the continentals they just don’t censor stuff like that – sex is just what it is – they don’t feel the need to hide the word from society!

In the background is my beloved Desigual handbag bought for me (with no guidance I might add!) from my partner for Christmas.  I wear it every day 🙂

Fabrice Pellegrin is the nose behind Love – the pretty, sweet offering in the collection.  He’s responsible for many of the beautiful Diptyque scents (including the recent Florabellio), Just Cavalli and Aqua by Swarsovski.  Love is a tender touch of a fragrance – blackcurrants, grapefruit, orange blossom, sandalwood and tonka bean blend well together for a subtle, pretty Eau De Toilette.  It gets the thumbs up from the husband to be!

Sex is created by Daphne Bugey who was responsible for the whole DSquared range, some of the Issey Miyake and Kenzo ranges.  Indian Tuberose joined together with grapefruit sparkle on top, drying down to musk, vanilla and precious woods.

Fun is cheerful and full of life, created by Christophe Raynaud who made Insolence for Guerlain, 1 Million for Paco Rabanne and various fragrances for Michael Khors.
