Here at Simply Woman we’ve compiled a bumper selection of red and white and blue! (sparkling) wines for everybody to enjoy throughout this occasion. Whether you’ll be having a private party, street party, friends round or god forbid – a solitary sip, we have something for everyone.

Loud and Proud – top pic
The Jubilee theme descends upon two famous brands that make great bases for mixers and cocktails. Pimms and Stone’s Limited Edition Ginger Wine are wicked poured over ice cream too. Let’s hope the weather holds. Stones’ and Pimms both retail at around £5.00 per bottle from most supermarkets and off licences. The Reds
Beringer California Zinfandel Rose 2010 abv 10% abv
This is a rose with a lighter alcohol content than the rest. Its acidity perfectly balances the sweetness of cherries and strawberries. RRP £7.49 from Waitrose supermarkets.
Both Barrels Coonawarra Rutherglen Shiraz Durif 2010 14.5% abv
The dark colour delivers what it promises – big hits of juicy plum and red berries. Rich and sumptuous this grape combines the famous shiraz with a relatively new partner. This is a full on, full bodied wine rated E. RRP £9.29.
The Chocolatier Shiraz 2011 abv 14.5% abv
This south African wine is described as an irresistible delicious and we at Simply Woman definitely agree! Juicy ripe grapes are hand selected for this wine that is full of chcolatey mocha overtones. Perfect for after jubilee celebrations – team with red meat dishes. RRP £8.99.
The Whites
Lime leaf Verdejo 2011 from Spain, 13% abv
A full bodied dry wine with exceptionally fresh fruit and zingy lemon/lime flavours RRP £6.99.
Bott Geyl Gerwurtztraminer Les Elements 2009, 13.5% abv
This is a pale fruity dry white from the German Alsace region has with a pleasant aftertaste. Top notes of vanilla linger on the palette. Good to see a German wine on this list, (nod to the Duke of Edinburgh). RRP £16.99.
The Rustler Chenin Blanc 2011 abv 13%
This south African wine is dry with melon and spicy fruit flavours that are normally reminiscent of Chilean varieties. RRP £7.99.
Yering Station Chardonnay 2010 McIntyre Lane 13% abv
A juicy white from the Yarra Valley region of Victoria, Australia. Strong mineral notes of white nectarine and a complex nutty overtone. Best described as medium sweet, this is a perfect accompaniment for a girly chat between just you and your mum! RRP £12.49.
Tikohi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011, 13% abv
Straw pale colour with lifted gooseberry overtones and fresh grass aroma come from this New Zealand winery. Buy at £10.99.
The Sparklers
Laithwaites Premier Cru Champagne Brut Private Cuvee 12.5% abv
This is an English wine made from two thirds chardonnay and one third pinot noir grape. Very pleasant and smooth on the palette with a gentle mousse. Notes of white flowers and a hint of brioche make this a champagne to remember. RRP £23.99.
Wynfold Vineyard Sparkling White Wine 2009Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier 12.5% abv
This hits your palette with a bang, and it’s a shame there are not like this on the market. Three grapes make up this delicious English wine. Recommended for those who want a bubbly that stays close to home, and not one from across the water. RRP £22.99.
Belletti Dell’Italia Prosecco extra dry 11% abv
Classic Italian sparkling wine with flavours of peach and pear that linger on the palette. Available at Aldi supermarkets RRP £5.99.

The Reds
Stowells Cabernet Merlot 13.5% abv
This medium bodied wine has fruit forest flavours of black cherry and blackcurrant with a hint of mint that pairs excellently with a spring lamb roast dinner. RRP £5.49 from independent outlets.
Kumala Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz abv 15.5% abv
This an indulgence of red berry aromas. Get this rich and robust red wine at£6.99 from Asda, Morisson and Sainsburys.
The Whites
Domaine Des Cantreaux Muscadet Sevre Et Maine Sur Lie Appelation D’Origine 12% abv
Great with fish and seafood dishes! RRP £4.99 from Aldi.
Lindeman’s Bin 65 Chardonnay abv 12.5%. Rich with syrupy overtones of melon and pear, full bodied. Need we say more? Widely available at £7.99.
Sparkling
Two bubblys made our list
Banrock Station Shiraz Rose abv 12.5% is a bright, fully flavoursome sparkling rosé with a crisp, refreshing taste. Sumptuous flavours of strawberry and cherry make this great to drink any time of day! RRP £8.99 from Waitrose.
Hardys Crest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blend abv 12% boasts lively berry fruit tones and a crisp tangy finish. Makes a great bucks fizz too. RRP £13.99 from Tesoc and Sainsburys.
